Dance Lessons - now with more Rock 'n' Roll!

At Twinwood we run a full program of dance lessons throughout the festival, from Saturday through to Monday, lead by an array of expert dance instructors, covering a range of styles including Lindyhop/Swing, Charleston, Ballroom and more!

All dance lessons are FREE, and you don’t need to book, just come along and join in the fun! Daily lessons are held in the Dance Marquee, the Tin Hat and The Colonial Club, as well as dance displays in the Main Arena.

In 2017, we are excited to be introducing new Rock 'n' Roll dance classes, which can be found daily in the Dance Marquee.

Don't worry if you don't have a dance partner as our classes are a great place to meet people. We have lots of sessions for beginners as well as a range of intermediate classes for those looking to improve their skills.

With several huge sprung dance floors on site, there are plenty of places to dance both day and night to live music played by some of the best retro bands out there, giving you lots of opportunities to show off those moves. We even have dance-wear traders on site too!

Stay tuned for our full dance lesson timetable, which will be published shortly.

Remember - our campsites are filling up fast, so you'll need to book early in order to join in the fun! Click Here to visit the Twinwood website and online ticket shop.

"Here is a video of Irene Cara taken from her video for the song 'Fame' from the 1980's TV series of the same name. Her white petticoat flashes below the hem
of her black skirt but the best bit occurs at 2:30 into the video where she's sat on top of a yellow New York taxi and has her skirt slightly pulled up and showing about
four inches of petticoat.  Nice."

We receive this question regarding long-term storage of petticoats now and then - thought we'd post our answer:

Long term storage can be done by rolling them fairly tightly and using brown paper and packaging tape.  Most fabrics are fairly resilient.  Short-
term storage (where you want to maintain the pouf) should be done by hanging, but not in a hot area (although obviously this takes a lot of space.)

After long term storage, the petticoat should be shaken out thoroughly.  The BEST way to regain pouf after that is to use light liquid starch,
soak them a short while, then let them line dry.  Never machine dry! (Washing can be done gently by hand, as for lingerie, using a Woolite-type
product.) A slightly less effective way of regaining stiffness and pouf is to use liquid starch, soaking thoroughly, and them line drying.

Unless you want ants, do not use the method offered by some: Soaking in sugar water.

Abby M. has provided some nice wide, fluffy gown videos:

1) [Princess Shoot] "Not Quinceañera, but a really nice belle cosplay I want to replicate some day.
The six meter circumference hoop skirt creates such a great shape. I love how it moves and sways as she walks around."
ED: We have posted this before, but it's worth another look.

2) "Short video with a great show of petticoats about ninety seconds in."

3) [Video] "Very pretty white dress, love how it's poufed only by petticoats. Good show of petticoats four minutes in."

4) [Video] "Another gown poufed only by petticoats, with a good show."

5) [Video] Largest ball gown I've confirmed is poufed with just petticoats, very pretty dress.
Link is time  stamped to a big show, but there are other petti peeks and fluffiness throughout the video."
