LIESEL'S PRACTICAL POUFBUNNY AREA

on Petticoat Pond

1. HANDWASHING

If you've got real expensive things you want to keep in the best possible condition, there is no

better way to wash them than by hand. Make sure the sink you wash in is clean and free of rust or

rough edges. A gouge in a sink from dropping a pan or knife can have rough edges that can snag

fine nylon or silk and ruin you lingerie. Use warm water and one of the soaps specially for delicate

things. Follow the directions on the soap for the amount to use. Don't rub things together. Gently

squeeze the water through the lingerie. Turn and rearrange things in the water often so soil can't

hide in folds of cloth. Never spend more than five minutes washing, then drain the water and start

more warm water running. While the fresh warm water is rinsing out the sink, hold the lingerie

under the stream and rinse most of the soap out. Put the plug back in the drain and fill the sink with

clear warm water. Squeeze the water through the lingerie for a minute or two as a final rinse. If you

use fabric softener, drain and fill the sink again. Add the fabric softener according to the

manufacturer's directions. Squeeze the softener solution through the lingerie, again turning and

rearranging them to be sure the softener saturates all the cloth. Remove the lingerie one piece

at a time and gently squeeze most of the water out. Then lay your things out to dry on a clean terry

cloth towel.
