LIESEL'S PRACTICAL POUFBUNNY AREA
on Petticoat Pond
5. STORING
Store your lingerie in a place where they will get a little air. Naturally drawers are fine. Don't seal
them tight in plastic bags or boxes. If you do you may get introduced to a very nasty thing called
mildew. Believe me you don't want anything to do with mildew. I learned this the hard way too. I've
never found a way to get mildew out of something. Even if you get it so it looks clean it will always
have a nasty smell. Hanging up your petticoats isn't a good idea either. Nylon is a plastic and it will
flow under stress. When you hang up a petticoat by its waist all of its weight is relentlessly pulling
on it. It will stretch and mysteriously get longer. Another unfortunate thing about this stretching is
that it usually doesn't happen evenly. The petti ends up longer in some places than in others.
Unfortunately there is no way to shrink it back. Chiffon petti's are most vulnerable to this because
they relatively heavy for the fine thread that makes up their fabric. This is why you should never
hang up a heavy wet chiffon petti to dry. One good way to store petti's is in large cotton broad cloth
laundry bags. These are the kind of bags people usually use to store their dirty clothes in before
wash day. These bags are better for petti storage than the course nylon mesh bags that are use for
washing. The course mesh bags let dust in. If you like to use perfume (I do) or scented powders
and you put it on your petti's or other lingerie don't store them for more than a day or two with the
perfume or powder on them. It's usually okay to leave them scented if you wear them regularly, but
if your going to put them away for weeks or longer wash them first. I have found that some of the
scents go sour smelling after a while and it hard to get it out after that.
